Happy Summer Solstice and 10 days of continuous creativity. THE DAILY CREATIVE PRACTICE, a group I belong to, invites us all to create and share from the solstice until the beginning of July. 10 days of continuous creativity: Share a work in progress, a completed work, a photo, an idea, an outline, science, cooking, dancing, being, celebrating, anything that expresses your creative process!
The Road to Somewhere …
Somebody once said, ‘If you don’t know where you going, you might not get there,’ and while I don’t know where I’m going (– in that big, metaphorical sense) I can feel I’m going somewhere. Sometimes I even feel I’m willing myself there through creativity.
2014. I have lived in Britain now for nearly 10 years, (9 years and 6 months and some days) and that’s a long time!
I started this year with an image of a sign-post to remind me to stay focused, watching out for invitations and opportunities to exit my current life and flow into the next phase.
Inching along …
Periodically other sign-post images have appeared too. The inch worm reminds me that while the going may be slow, to use those big eyes, the antenna, and all those furry fuzzy feelers on my body to discern my way forward.
Sifting and sorting
Earlier this month, on the 9th of June, it struck me that maybe in a years time I may have more of an idea about what’s next. I also liked how the numbers added up (9 + 6 = 15) and decided to begin this next sign-post to remind me to keep focus, sift and sort what life is bringing me and see how it adds up.
And while sifting and sorting papers yesterday, I came across this other sign-post which I started in April … I got stuck at the point of drawing foot prints. I just wasn’t happy with what emerged on the page, so I set this aside. But sooner or later, I know they will re-appear.
And that’s my day 1 DCP June 2014 Solstice. What is yours?
